How to Restart a Frozen System?

Recently, there are some problems with my desktop. It randomly crashed and frozen at there and the Ctrl + Alt + Backspace is not working. I think of the linux users know that when you force shutdown your desktop, you likely to cause some damages on it, especially during your hard disk is in the middle of writting or cache on the Swap.

So, here is a safer and rare way to turn off your desktop. I mean rare because I don’t think normal users will know this method.

  1. Hold down Alt + Print Screen buttons.
  2. Then type in REISUB.
  3. Your computer will reboot itself.

The sequence of keystrokes will terminate all the applications running and unmount all the drives.
